Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long is each session?

Our initial session is 60 minutes, giving us additional time to go over your history and what you would like to address in therapy. The duration of each following session is 50 minutes.

I also offer 90-minute sessions. Clients who would benefit from these extended sessions would be those who are engaging in EMDR, those who have higher needs of care due to a recent traumatic event, or those who are interested in a shortened duration/intensive format.

  • What are sessions like?

During our first session, we will go over your history and what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss treatment options that work best for you, including frequency of sessions, modalities used, and specific goals to work on.

Throughout our work together, we will identify unhealthy patterns, relationship dynamics, coping mechanisms and any other factors that are causing distress and/or getting in the way of your goals. I will be your guide in this process and create a safe environment where you feel truly heard. I will also challenge you along the way. This might look like asking you to stay present with an uncomfortable feeling, challenging a fixed perspective, or finding ways to deepen your level of vulnerability. These challenges help lead you to the change you are looking for, within a safe, compassionate environment.

  • Do I need to prepare for therapy?

Preparing for sessions can help you get the most out of our time together. Before the first session, I highly recommend reflecting on the questions asked in the intake form. You can either provide detailed answers on the intake form, or provide additional information during our session. This will help provide the foundation for our work together. If it feels too unsettling to provide this information online, you are more than welcome to elaborate during our session.

As for follow-up sessions, it is usually best practice to give yourself at least 5-10 minutes to think about what concerns came up for you since the previous session. Some clients also find it helpful to keep track of noteworthy events, thoughts, symptoms on their phone notes app.

  • How much do sessions cost?

Intake sessions are $180, 50-minute sessions are $150, and 90-minute sessions are $270.

The initial 15-minute consultation is free.

  • How long do I have to be in Therapy?

This is entirely dependent on your goals, severity of symptoms, and attendance frequency.

Some clients choose to engage in short-term solution-focused work, which can be completed in about 4-6 weeks. Others recognize they would benefit from medium-long term therapy to resolve underlying issues (i.e. low self-esteem, body image issues, generalized anxiety, relationship issues, trauma).

After our first session, I will give you my clinical opinion regarding the frequency and duration I believe would be most appropriate for your goals. We will check-in every few-several sessions to make modifications based on your level of improvement/goals achieved.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, meaning I do not bill insurance directly. I accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, as well as FSA and HSA cards.

If your insurance plan provides out-of-network benefits, I can send you a superbill you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance agent to confirm your out-of-network benefits/copay for each session.
